Online publishing and ebooks are currently in their infancy and the new market that the internet presents has encouraged an increasing number of publishers to adopt electronic publishing. The current file formats currently available to the majority of publishers, such as Adobe’s Portable Document File (PDF), Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) and Microsoft’s Document (DOC) present an immediate problem in terms of piracy as they offer little in the way of copyright protection.
